The construction of a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System does not end when the construction works are completed.
One of the key stages in project delivery is commissioning – the process of preparing the installation for safe and reliable operation.
Commissioning is typically divided into two main stages:
🔹 Cold Commissioning – involves verifying the completeness of the installation and checking all systems before they are energized. This stage includes equipment inspections, connection tests, control system configuration and verification that the installation has been completed in accordance with the design documentation.
🔹 Hot Commissioning – begins once the system is energized. This stage involves functional testing of the entire system under actual operating conditions, including verification of equipment integration, protection systems, communication and control systems.
Commissioning is what ultimately confirms that all components of the project work together as one fully integrated and functional system.
