BESS by P&Q | 200 MW connected to the transmission grid
We have completed the connection process of BESS Ełk to the 220 kV transmission grid operated by PSE.
This is one of the most demanding investments in the Polish power sector, combining exceptional technical and organizational complexity with advanced engineering, execution and coordination capabilities. The scope of works included not only connection and battery infrastructure, but also significant upgrades to the existing transmission system.
Key project challenges included:
✔️ Connection of the energy storage facility to the existing 220 kV overhead line through a star connection arrangement, requiring reconstruction of a transmission line critical for the Polish Power System.
✔️ Modernization of three PSE substations to ensure safe and reliable integration of the new energy storage facility with the grid.
✔️ Coordination of multiple engineering teams and stakeholders while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and schedule performance.
