BESS by P&Q | Energization of the Grid Connection Substation in Turośń Kościelna

Last week, we completed the energization of the 110/SN substation and high-voltage transmission lines forming a key part of the large-scale battery energy storage system currently under construction in Turośń Kościelna.
The project is being delivered by P&Q as the general contractor on behalf of Greenvolt Power – the investor behind two battery energy storage facilities in Poland, each with a capacity of 200 MW and 0.8 GWh, ranking among the largest BESS installations currently under development in the country.
The Turośń Kościelna BESS is the first facility of this kind to be connected directly to the transmission network operated by PSE, giving the development strategic importance in the context of integrating energy storage into Poland’s national power system. Power will be exported via the 110 kV switchgear at the Narew substation.
The issuance of EON confirms the readiness of the high-voltage infrastructure for further testing and commissioning. The next milestones include obtaining ION and commissioning the battery infrastructure, leading to full operational functionality of the installation
The BESS in Turośń Kościelna contributes to setting standards for future projects of this scale in Poland – both in terms of technical parameters and the cooperation model. At the same time, we are delivering a twin installation in Ełk, consistently strengthening our expertise and reinforcing P&Q’s position in the large-scale energy storage segment.
