BESS – Battery Energy Storage Systems
At P&Q, we’re proud to act as the general contractor responsible for the full-scale construction of two large BESS in Ełk and Turośń Kościelna, each with a total capacity of 800 MWh. This is more than technology – it’s a real contribution to the green energy transition and to improving the stability of the national power system.
Although renewable energy sources are developing rapidly, their dependence on weather conditions still poses a serious challenge to the stability of the power system. This is where BESS come into play. These systems are becoming the foundation of a modern, resilient and on-demand energy sector. BESS will support the transformation of Poland’s energy mix – from fossil fuels to innovative renewable technologies, including wind farms, solar power, and future-oriented hybrid energy parks combining all three. BESS systems can work in standalone version, based on participation in the Capacity Market, grid services and storage of low-cost renewable energy during their overproduction hours.
